The WNBA has always led the efforts to condemn atrocities, and Donald Trump's decision to bomb Iran has angered Natasha Cloud.

The United States of America is at imminent risk of becoming fully embroiled in a war with Iran. Donald Trump’s decision to send a stealth aircraft to bomb nuclear bases in Iran has escalated matters. The USA have been aiding and abetting Israel’s genocide of Palestine, and more recently their attack on Iran. But the latest wave of direct aggression has put the world on notice, and Natasha Cloud is saddened by it.

The New York Liberty guard has always taken the front foot when speaking against injustice. During her time with the Washington Mystics, Cloud sat out the 2020 WNBA season in protest of George Floyd’s death and the BLM protests that followed. She walked the walk, joining protesters in Minneapolis despite being on the then-defending champion Mystics. Her decision also saw many cascading effects leaguewide.

Being an ‘activist league’, as many disingenuous MAGA folks have deemed the WNBA, is something the players take pride in. They believe not just in words, but also in following through with the action needed. In matters of national security and military action, there isn’t much a citizen can do. But raising a voice is the bare minimum to be done, and Natasha Cloud wasted no time in doing that.

After the White House and Donald Trump announced the success of their operation in Iran, Cloud put out two tweets. She deemed it a ‘sad, sad day’ and called for Donald Trump’s impeachment from his office.

She also retweeted Indiana Fever forward Brianna Turner’s observation, which stated

The three branches of government don’t operate under a system of checks & balances anymore. Democracy or autocracy?

The optics are indeed bad for the USA. They have been drawn into a needless conflict that could set the world back by several years, even decades, in diplomatic relations that have been earned over the past few decades by the United Nations and other advanced military powers of the world. The Western world will now wait for Iran’s military response with bated breath.

Natasha Cloud praised Caitlin Clark for her offensive excellence recently

Natasha Cloud is one of the best defenders in the WNBA, in addition to being a championship-level point guard. She did a great job of containing Caitlin Clark during the Liberty’s first faceoff against Indiana this season. However, Clark staged her return to action from her injury with a 32-point outing in the Fever’s blowout 102-88 win. Clark had a spell in which she rained in three 3-pointers in just 45 seconds of in-game action.

Cloud was on the receiving end of this for the most part. She saw Clark drain deep three after deep three in one of the hottest spells for any player in basketball history. Despite being a fierce competitor, Natasha Cloud was effusive in her praise for Clark’s epic play. Going live on Instagram in the days after, Cloud pointed out the biggest aspect of Caitlin Clark’s game-changing offensive play:

When she crosses half court she can shoot that shyt

The Liberty face the Indiana Fever next on July 16th. The reigning WNBA champions will aim to get the best of Caitlin Clark and co when they face off.
