Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal kept it as professional as they could while promoting their rematch. The ex-UFC superstars and inaugural ‘BMFs’ did engage in some minor verbal banter. But, when it came to the actual staredown, they kept their calm and proceeded to square up. The fans, however, had no such inclination as they took the opportunity to diss Jake Paul of all people instead.

Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal first met in the inaugural BMF title match in 2019. In the UFC 244 main event, ‘Gamebred’ won the fight due to a 3rd round TKO doctor stoppage. Since then, Masvidal has often advocated for an MMA rematch. However, free agent Diaz has shifted to crossover boxing, going 0-1 in his career after losing to Jake Paul.

Now, the ex-UFC stars will meet in a 10-round exhibition bout on June 1 at KIA Forum in Los Angeles. The bout airs on Fanmio with no title strap on the line. However, Diaz will aim to rebound from his loss to the fighter at UFC 244 with surefire resolve. The veterans announced Monday on their IG handles that they’d partake in a 4-city “Baddest Tour.”

Consequently, fans threw shade at influencer boxer Jake Paul at the Las Vegas presser, chanting, “Fu*k Jake Paul,” which even Nate Diaz piqued for a moment. However, there’s no love lost between the two. One has to wonder if Masvidal will pursue a fight against Paul if he defeats Diaz in the boxing rematch.

Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal 2 Face-to-face: What’s next?

Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal remain the pioneer “original” gangsters of combat circles, specifically UFC. Considering each other of a similar breed, the duo has longed for a rematch for a long time. Gamebred even went to Stockton to entice Diaz with a rematch offer. Diaz now states that as a free agent, all he could do was unsanctioned sparring or opt for crossover matches.

Luckily, the rivals settled for a boxing bout on June 1 at Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. By all appearances, it’ll be a grudge rematch of their inaugural BMF title scrap. Both the fighters have taken the initiative to promote the fight from their end. The press tour could impact how much revenue the duo could pull in their rematch.

The next stop in their 4-City “Baddest Tour” is April 16 at Palladium Times Square, New York, followed by April 17 at Pier 5 at Bayside, Miami. The cycle concludes with April 19 at The Novo Theater, Los Angeles. All are open public domain events; the last few might even entail open workout sessions and staredowns. As such, the clash between the giants holds much anticipation amongst combat sports fans.
