Currently, there are no updates regarding a potential opponent for Poirier’s UFC retirement fight. However, some fellow fighters appear eager to give the Diamond a memorable final fight in the UFC. Likewise, even Poirier has expressed interest in competing against certain fighters. Recently, though, he seems to have dismissed a matchup with rising undefeated lightweight fighter Paddy Pimblett.

Speaking of their relationship, Poirier has had several opportunities to face off against Nate Diaz. Despite both being active competitors in the UFC, the two American fighters never actually fought each other. Interestingly, in discussions about his retirement fight, Poirier expressed interest in welcoming Diaz back to the UFC for a potential matchup. Apart from that, the two hold no grudges against each other.
Demetrious Johnson gives a few names for Dustin Poirier’s last UFC fight outing
Throughout his illustrious UFC career, Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier has fought and defeated several formidable fighters on the roster. The likes of Conor McGregor, Max Holloway, and Justin Gaethje are some of the notable names who faltered against Poirier. However, his recent fight outing wasn’t as pleasing as the ‘Diamond’ expected it to be.

At UFC 302, Poirier entered the octagon for his third chance at the UFC lightweight championship title, facing Islam Makhachev. Despite showcasing moments of excellence during the fight, the Diamond was unable to claim the title from Makhachev. However, due to his impressive performance against the 155 lbs champion, UFC legend Demetrious Johnson believes Poirier can still deliver exciting fights.
Dustin Poirier can fight anybody. He can fight Arman Tsarukyan. He can fight, you know, Justin Gaethje again. I mean every single time Dustin Poirier fights, it’s always going to be a banger.

Johnson specifically named Arman Tsarukyan and Justin Gaethje as two potential opponents for Poirier. However, Gaethje is already scheduled to fight Dan Hooker in the upcoming UFC pay-per-view event in March. Meanwhile, Tsarukyan is rumored to be clashing with Michael Chandler next. It will be interesting to see how these matchups develop.
