Nate Robin needs kidney transplant to stay alive

Three-time Slam Dunk contest winner Nate Robinson has been going through a tough time after his retirement. The star who once played with Stephen Curry and the Warriors is now struggling with major health issues. In 2022, Robinson shockingly revealed that he was suffering from renal kidney failure. However, now the former player has disclosed an even more disturbing news.

Nate Robinson recently talked about his life-threatening disease in an interview with ‘Men’s Health’. The former athlete has been going through dialysis since 2020 but now the star needs a new kidney to stay alive. Robinson revealed that if he does not get a kidney soon, death is the ‘next door’ for him

Some days I didn’t want to leave the house; I just didn’t want to do dialysis no more. Some days, I did wanna be here, and do this, until I find a kidney.

Robinson’s kidneys are functioning less than 15 percent of their optimal capacity. The star neglected the treatment for a long time as he wanted to play in the NBA. The former guard wanted to live on his own terms as he was not ready to accept his sickness. The delay in treatment has made the issues worse for him.

As Robinson is comparatively healthier, the star is ‘counting his blessings’ while his family tells him that he cannot stop living.

Nate Robinson wants to live for the next 40 years and star dunking again

Back in 2010, Robinson became the first player in NBA history to win three slam dunk contests in their career. The guard was known to be one of the best dunkers in the league but had to quit after getting diagnosed with health issues. However, the star does not want to stay away from the rim for a long time.

While speaking to Men’s Health, Robinson revealed that he has been focusing on a strict diet through his dialysis. The 40-year-old has a routine that he is following daily to get back to basketball if possible. Robinson believes that the diets and workouts will help him get back at dunking again.

Man, I can still grab [the] rim! Thank God. I haven’t tried to dunk yet. I feel like if I can continue to work, I can get back to it.

Despite the difficulties, Robinson also expressed wanting to live for another 40 years to see his grandchildren. The star wants to spend time with them and tell stories about his time in the league with stars like LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. NBA fans on social media were heartbroken as they prayed for a kidney for the former player to fulfill his wishes.
