National hammer-throw champion suspended for doping
National champion in hammer-throwing Anita who was also a gold medalist in the Federation Cup senior athletics championship has been provisionally suspended on account of doping by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) following a test for increased testosterones level.
Anita was tested during the 23rd Federation Cup meet in Patiala last year where she had won gold with a throw of 59.43 m. Anita was on the NADA’s radar for a very long time due to her increased testosterone levels. It therefore, decided to test a sample in a scientific and advanced manner.
48 IPL cricketers also tested
NADA also collected samples of 48 cricketers who took part in the recently concluded Indian Premier League tournament in the UAE. The samples have been sent to Cologne in Germany for testing. 11 Indian cricketers were tested during the competition while 22 others were tested out of the competition.
Among the tested samples included that of Indian skipper Virat Kohli, former skipper MS Dhoni, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja.
