Lakers are going to Cancun

The Los Angeles Lakers have endured one of the worst seasons ever witnessed by the franchise, this season. Having acquired an elite set of veterans led by LeBron James, injuries, inefficiency and inconsistency were at their peak to bring down the 2020 NBA Champions. The entire crew of NBA on TNT including Shaquille O’Neal tried to encourage the purple and gold by pin-pointing their drawbacks yet there was no improvement whatsoever.

Misery what at its peak for the Lakers when they suffered yet another defeat via the hands of Phoenix Suns, sending them completely out of playoff contention. As a result of which, Shaquille O’Neal, Dwayne Wade, Jamal Crawford and Adam Lefkoe decided to bid farewell to LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Rob Pelinka, Anthony Davis and rest of the Laker army in hilarious fashion.

The “EJ’s Neat-O Stat of the Night” was all about sending the team to Cancun. The Inside the NBA crew continued to troll the LA Lakers by showing a photoshopped picture of them on vacation. LeBron James can be seen wearing a “Not A GM” tank top, while Russell Westbrook is on a jet ski. Anthony Davis, Carmelo Anthony, comedian Will Ferrell and rapper Snoop Dogg are on a banana boat, with Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka falling off of it.

“1, 2, 3… Cancun!” Shaquille O’Neal and the rest of the crew shouted. To those who are not aware, Cancun is a city in Mexico famous for being a tourist destination. The inside joke in the NBA about Cancun only went viral a couple of years ago, but it was originally uttered by Nick Van Exel back in 1998.

Safe to say, it was a season to forget for the players, fan base and management. With the blame-game being passed on from the shoulders of Russell Westbrook to Frank Vogel, their seemed to be no improvement. Furthermore, with AD being side-lined at regular intervals for half of the season, it seemed a job-too tough for LeBron James as game after game, he was left alone on the scoring board.

Will we see the fate of purple and gold changing in the upcoming season? Well, they surely have enough months and time at disposal to think peacefully.
