NBA 2020-21 Pre-season- Golden State Warriors inch past Denver Nuggets 107-105

Stephen Curry

Jamal Murray scored 11 whereas Nikola Jokic scored 26 points for the Nuggets

Stephen Curry finally leads the Golden State Warriors against the Denver Nuggets in their first match in the pre-season. With Klay Thompson out, this is Kelly Oubre Jr’s time to settle up with Stephen Curry. The Warriors would be playing without Draymond Green and youngster James Wiseman. Whereas the Nuggets will open up in with their full-strength supporting marquee duo Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic.

The Nuggets are known for their grit and size, but have lost some of their burly front court players this offseason, which signals a change in style for the upcoming campaign. This however depends majorly on how Murray and Jokic plan on strategizing their game play around new players.

With the game getting underway, what a pleasure it was to see Stephen Curry back on the court and scoring. The Warriors started way better than the Nuggets who looked to slow down the game on every rebound as the Dubs looked aggressive. Golden State Warriors led 31-21

2nd quarter-

With the 2nd quarter beginning it was Nikola Jokic who undertook the responsibility on making the Dubs pay for their aggressive intent. As Curry slowed down, this quarter belonged to Murray and Nikola for their partnership. Going into half time the Nuggets trailed 50-61.

3rd quarter-

As both Kelly Oubre Jr and Stephen Curry were not able to find their perfect rhythm. In stepped Kent Bazemore, Damion Lee and Jordan Poole to keep the scoreboard ticking for the Dubs. But Nikola Jokic and Monte Morris kept the pressure on. Heading into the last quarter the Nuggets only trailed by 7 points.

4th quarter-

It would be safe to say that if it wasn’t for the Warriors bench, they would have surely gone onto lose this game. The Warriors inched the Free-Throw and 3-point accuracy rate over the Nuggets and probably that proved to be the case in determining the winner in this contest. Golden State Warriors won 105-107.
