NBA 2020-21 Pre-season- New York Knicks beat Detroit Pistons 90-84

The other encounter of the pre-season was also an all-eastern battle between New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons. Having finished 12th and 13th respectively in the East last season, both these franchises needed a major uplift. With Blake Griffins and Jerami Grant leading the charge for the Pistons, they surely would have wanted to hit the ground running before the start of the regular season.
One thing was for sure there would be plenty of players looking to make an impression on their coach and put themselves in the conversation for deserving a starting berth when the season begins.
New York Knicks vs Detroit Pistons- As it happened

1st quarter-
The New York Knicks got to a better start courtesy of their marquee starters Elfrid Payton and Nerlens Noel who scored decently from the field. But during the entire course of the 1st quarter Knicks’ players seemed hesitant to shoot form behind the arc. Whereas the starters of the Pistons were also not able to shoot accurately from downtown. After the 1st quarter ended Kicks led 22-18.
2nd quarter-
As the 2nd quarter started Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin both started to find their spots on the scoring sheets for the Pistons. With help from Mykhailiuk and Saddiq Bey from the 3-point range, Pistons led the scoring chart 29-26 in the 2nd. But after the end of the first half, they trailed by a point 48-49.
3rd quarter-
When every player who has stepped onto the court has scored, a team knows more often than not, they would be leading. Similar was the case for the Knicks, who started the 3rd quarter in aggressive style, with RJ Barrett leading their scoring charts. Their players still seemed resistant to shoot from behind the arc. However, after the end of the 3rd quarter Knicks led 74-61.
4th quarter-
The Pistons started offensively and had scored more points but it kept on seeming like the 20-point lead had just outdone them. With a minute to remain they trailed by 7 and that was probably the end.
