Carmelo Anthony scored 21 points for the Portland Trail Blazers

Portland Trail Blazers were in dire need of a third scorer apart from CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard. On this particular occasion, it is Carmelo Anthony who stepped up from the bench in their first pre-season match against Sacramento Kings. Anthony did not only lead offensively but got 4 rebounds and 2 assists registered against his name. 

Sacramento Kings’ Buddy Hield was the star for his team, scoring 23 points. However, it was not only Anthony. But Lillard and CJ as well who starred scoring 15 and 18 points respectively. Even from the Trail Blazers bench Giles III and Trent Jr. Stepped up on the occasion to score 18 points respectively.

1st quarter-

Portland started on the aggressive front scoring 41 points. But courtesy to Hield, even the Sacramento Kings did not back off, they kept scoring points and adjusting their game play according to Damian Lillard and CJ’s movement. After the end of the 1st quarter Portland led 41-36. 

2nd quarter- 

Even though Kings wanted to bounce back in the game, Portland gave them no chance of doing so. And it is just then Carmelo Anthony, Trent Jr and Giles III started their magic from the bench. Having your bench score so many points is always an advantage. Going into the half time Trail Blazers led 72-62. 

3rd quarter- 

Just when the Kings wanted to slow things down and they were even successful in the early minutes. Anthony started his magic in a relatively low-pressures game, being a pre-season matchup. Portland Trail Blazers outscored the Kins even in this quarter 24-19. 

4th quarter- 

With Sacramento Kings having all the points gap to close down to, time and again to left gaps open for the opposition’s marquee players to score. Portland scored 10 more points than the Kings even in this quarter to seal the deal. Portland won by a margin of 25 points.
