This season, the NBA All-Star Game has undergone a significant format change, moving from a one-game matchup to a four-team mini-tournament. Following years of criticism for the game’s poor play, the new All-Star lineup set by NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, aimed to restore the matchup’s energy and entertainment value. However, this has not gone as expected.

On Sunday, the All-Star event kickstarted with many fans excited to watch their stars play. Four teams are competing in a mini-tournament over three games in this new format. This includes two semifinals and one finals meeting. However, it is not been that entertaining. 1 hour into the iconic event, fans were left annoyed with the management of the ‘most entertaining’ event.

This was because of the numerous stops during the event, leading to delays. Some fans claimed that the All-Stars event has had fewer basketball being played and more advertising and marketing being done. In addition, fans were also left bored by comedian Kevin Hart doing commentary during the match. After Hart was done with his theatrics, YouTuber MrBeast was invited by the NBA, which also annoyed fans.

Given that, NBA star man Shai Gilgeous-Alexander went as far as to the extent of giving out a reaction ‘of speeding up’ the event. Silver and the NBA management team have had a disastrous All-Star event this year, by the looks of the fans’ expressions in the Arena. One thing is certain, fans as well as players are not huge advocates of the new ‘All-Star format.’

Fans coin 2025 All-Star games as ‘disaster’

Adam Silver and the NBA have much to ponder upon. His idea to change the All-Stars event’s format has not worked out by the look of things. There have been more ‘delays’ than basketball being played in the event. This has left the NBA community as a whole: frustrated, with fans reacting to the event on social media.

Many fans took to various social media apps and sites to put forward their frustration and anger towards Silver and the NBA. One fan wrote on X, “Worst All-Star game ever and it had zero to do with the actual basketball being played that’s honestly impressive Mr. Silver.” Check out some of the furious fan reactions below:

Notably, many have also claimed the ongoing All-Star games to be ‘less entertaining.’ This was due to the new format and players looking dull on the court. Only stars like Stephen Curry and SGA doing their usual stuff, looked energized. It now remains to be seen what else the league can do to make it worthwhile.
