With every passing game, Nikola Jokic continues putting the NBA world on notice. The Denver Nuggets center has been unstoppable this season. The Nuggets are currently at second with a 9-2 record in a stacked Western Conference, only behind defending champions, Oklahoma City Thunder who sit at the top with a 12-1 record.
Nuggets are on a six match winning streak, largely thanks to the show put up by the three-time league MVP. Jokic will be looking to add to his lone NBA championship and enhance his legacy, as the Serbian has what it takes to be a top-10 player in the history of the league.
While the Nuggets do have the best player in the world within their ranks, it is the lack of a supporting cast that make cost them against the likes of OKC, who have the reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and a strong supporting cast within their ranks.
The Ringer’s Bill Simmons was joined by former NBA player and analyst Tim Legler as they spoke about various topics including Jokic’s resurgence after a slow start to the season by his lofty standards and why he is must-watch TV.
You have got the Jordan era and now you go for this century then, there’s a lot of guys that are super entertaining. For me, in terms of he is playing, I have to see this tonight. Stephen Curry would be the next guy (after Michael Jordan). But I understand why someone would make the argument for Jokic too because it’s at the point now, the stuffs he does, it blows your mind. What’s his number one trait? It is the touch, the finesse.
Nikola Jokic will be looking to add a fourth MVP title
The 30-year-old may be often regarded as a triple-double machine, it is the manner in which he executes his game and how effective it is to winning. No team in the league has an answer on how to stop him and it does not look like it is going to change much despite Jokic’s slow start to the season.

Coming off a 55-point game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday, Jokic currently averages 28.8 points, 13.1 rebounds and 10.9 assists while shooting at 68.4% from the field. Otherworldly numbers indeed. It is the overall dominance and especially the efficiency when it comes to Jokic.
This season is falling in step with the previous five for the Serb. In the last five seasons, Jokic has claimed three MVP titles, two runner-up finishes, and this week sits comfortably at No. 1 on the race to the MVP Award. After everything the world has seen of the ‘Joker’, he might still have a high ceiling.
Kendrick Perkins gives his praise to Nikola Jokic
Not just Tim Legler but even former critic of Jokic, Kendrick Perkins was in appreciation following the offensive masterclass on display on Tuesday night. Perkins said on NBA today:
I grew up a Rockets fan, Olajuwon, I watched him my entire childhood life. He (Jokic) makes Olajuwon’s great games look like regular games. The numbers that he is putting up. He is the most skilled player to ever play the game. We saw greatness last night. We saw a guy, come into the arena, fresh of a back-to-back, going up against one of the most elite defenders in the league at the post and give him that work. He is the best center I have seen in the last 20 years.
"[Nikola Jokić] makes [Hakeem] Olajuwon's great games look like regular games." 😳

As Jokic continues to gain momentum and make a case for another league MVP, Nuggets nation will be hoping that the big man can take them to their second championship after having helped them win their first ever in 2023.
