NBA and Player Union agree to new Covid-19 protocols for Christmas day games

Adam Silver
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has got a task on his hand as over 50 players have entered the Health and Safety Protocol over the past month. Moreover, Chicago Bulls have got two of their games postponed as they do not have enough players to represent them on the floor, which a scenario possible only when any team has less than 8 players available. Now, with Christmas approaching, the bonanza is expected to be massive and as a result of which NBA and Player Union has agreed to new Covid protocols.
This is reported by ESPN Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski. With NBA and the Player Union agreeing upon new Covid protocols, this will ensure that there are increased testing and use of marks in every game all around the country. With many marquee players including, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Giannis Antetokounmpo among others entering the Covid-19 protocols, the number has been higher than ever in the 2021-22 season.

NBA to implement new Covid 19 protocols for safety of Christmas day games
The increased testing will run from December 26th through January 8th. Masks will be required from players, coaches and staff on the bench, in the locker room, weight and training rooms and while traveling. However, if a player has been boosted for two plus weeks, he will not be subject to holiday or game day testing, per the league’s memo to teams.
Multiple outbreaks have been seen because of which teams like Chicago Bulls and most recently Los Angeles Lakers are bound to suffer. With so many players entering the Health and Safety Protocol, the Christmas Day games are already at a risk, given the intensity with which players are coming in contact of the virus yet again.

Apart from the mentioned teams, Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks and Sacramento Kings have all got four players each in the NBA Health and Safety Protocol.
