Ben Simmons is currently with the Brooklyn Nets after getting graded from the Philadelphia 76ers last season following a fallout with the organization. Simmons played just 42 games for the Nets this season while suffering from back injuries and mental health problems over the past two seasons. The 26 years old is a 3x All-star who has seen his career landslide since the 2021 NBA Playoffs.
Simmons was an electric college athlete playing for LSU averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds in his only year for the team. His performances led him to be selected #1 overall in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Sixers. Simmons was injured for the entirety of his first year in the NBA but won Rookie Of The Year in the 2017-18 season.
Simmons developed into an all-star by his second season and went on to make three consecutive all-star appearances for the 76ers. However, in the 2021 playoffs, Simmons had a meltdown against the Atlanta Hawks and fumbled key possessions in game 7 which led to the Sixers losing and ignited the dislike between Simmons and the organization.

Simmons was traded from Philly to the Nets in the 2021-22 season in a package surrounding James Harden. The Australian forward signed a 5-year / $177,243,360 deal with the Sixers in 2020 which earns him over $30 million every season and he is currently looking at 35.4 million guaranteed at the end of the 2022/23 season. The Brooklyn Nets possess Simmons’ Bird rights and can re-sign him if they want to.
Simmons value in the trade market, however, has plummeted since his injuries and below-average performances over the last two years. Simmons missed the entirety of the 2021-22 season through injuries and has 3 years left on his contract with the Nets. Brooklyn have not shown interest in re-signing him and could look to trade him before his value depreciates.
