Ben Simmons still is a part of the Philadelphia 76ers as they fail to ship him in a trade or come down to a mutual agreement to get him to play for the team again. The last time Ben played professional basketball in the league on a National Basketball Association’s court was last season’s playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks (Game 7) which started the ongoing drama. As Simmons was not delivering well and missed a game-changing open dunk too which would have made a big difference.

Ben Simmons stays firm on his decision which he made last summer of not playing for the Philadelphia 76ers and getting out as soon as possible. But still, he is stuck right there as the team doesn’t want to give up on him or trade him for a player who isn’t that effective and capable of carrying the squad. This led to Ben opting for sitting out and not suiting up for any games which resulted in the team fining him for every game he has missed.

So far Ben Simmons has lost $19 million and more in fines and is expected to lose more than $12 million if he stays firm on his long-time-made decision and doesn’t suit up for the 76ers this season. Ben in his career so far has made $60 million and can almost lose half of it if the thing between him and the 76ers continues. But Simmons is least worried about the money as a close source of his said to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne.

The source quoted: “We don’t give a f*** about the money. That’s not what this is. It’s hard for people to understand. But if you believe in what you’re doing and that this is not the right situation for you, and you’re trying to get to a better place, the money doesn’t matter. Obviously, it’s a financial hit. But you adjust.” Ben just wants out of Philadelphia as soon as possible now since he is also suffering with some mental health issues as day by day the criticism against him just keeps increasing.

Ben Simmons future in the league

Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons

Ben Simmons after this season still has a contract of three years and $114 million remaining on the table but surely, he won’t be wearing the same jersey and enjoying the contract as a part of the 76ers. But since seven months when he told the front office he wants out of Philadelphia. He has stopped receiving paychecks as the team instead sends him a notice for the fines he has accumulated. Every missed game costs him $360,000 so financially he won’t be in a good place in his future if the saga continues.

Sacramento Kings and Detroit Pistons are the two front-runners for acquiring him but Daryl Morey isn’t really interested in the trade. As he wants a safe and secure future for the team and not just some happiness for a season or two. There are rumors for a Nets-76ers trade as Kendrick Perkins hinted on it recently. James Harden and Ben Simmons can be an exchange the team is interested in and so is James Harden. As his camp in Philly has already started the work and even he didn’t sign the extension with the Nets resulting in him being a free agent this summer.

There are high chances for Simmons getting traded on the trade deadline but there are higher chances of him getting traded to the Nets this offseason. Ben Simmons can be a perfect fit playing next to Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving at the Nets as the team needs some size and a good defender which is something Ben is good at. But nothing can be said or confirmed since no deal or interest is out in public and even Ben Simmons has stayed quiet on the whole situation.
