“BEST DEFENSIVE TEAM!” Stephen A. Smith picks Boston Celtics as the team to beat in Eastern Conference
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown
When the 2021-22 NBA Season started, many thought that Boston Celtics are going to endure one of their worst-ever seasons in the league. With Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart, all having their respective problems, Ime Udoka has managed to turn the tables around for this franchise in a matter of months. Which has led Stephen A. Smith to pore abundance of ‘valid and deserved’ praise towards them.
The Boston Celtics have been one of the best teams since the start of this year. Not only have they had one of the best records and win ratios but their defensive record has been exceptional. Moreover, their consistent form has helped them almost secure a berth in the playoffs from the East.

What was opinionated by Stephen A. Smith on Boston Celtics?
Supporting the point raised by Stephen A. Smith statically, Boston is the best defensive team in the league. Only the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors are even close to them in overall defensive rating. But since Christmas, the gap between the Celtics and everyone else is massive. Stephen A. Smith called the Celtics the team to beat in the Eastern Conference and detailed exactly he believes that. The majority of his argument has to do with the Celtics’ defensive prowess.
Another feather in Boston Celtics cap in calling them the best in the east is the fact that they do not have a losing record against any of the current playoff teams. That is absolutely right, the Celtics are either .500 or better against every single one of them. Majority of their losses have been registered during their early struggles in the 2021-22 season.
It surely looks like Stephen A. Smith is one of the many analysts and players who have started to firmly believe in the most successful team in NBA History. Given that Ime Udoka’s team is just handful of wins away to secure a direct playoff berth, will they be able to finally keep their composure intact in the post season this time around? Remains to be seen.
