“Biggest portion of blame on his plate”-LeBron James slammed by Skip Bayless amid Lakers’ poor showing this season

Skip Bayless and LBbron James
LeBron James‘ Los Angeles Lakers are facing a hard time this season. From fans, analysts to critics, everyone is looking to find someone to blame for this current position. Skip Bayless has gone to his favorite punching bag – LeBron James. But this time, he may be right considering the influence LeBron usually has over the front office.

Of late, Russell Westbrook and Head coach Frank Vogel have taken on the majority of the blame. But none of them is entirely responsible for the whole team. The Lakers have had a disastrous season thus far. They are still one game below .500, halfway into the season with a 22-23 record for the season. The main problem has been one that of the roster and the team composition and lack of energy and quickness of young players.

The Lakers have several problems this season that go way beyond injuries and Covid protocols. They are 23rd in the league in Offensive Rating (108.4) and 20th in Defensive rating (110). These are not the numbers a championship team or even a strong contender would have. LeBron James has been balling out this season scoring at 28.8 Points per game. But he has had little to no support as the rest of the team continues to struggle. They lose to the strong teams and barely win against the below .500 teams.

LeBron James is resting on the Defensive end: Skip Bayless

Skip Bayless recently called out LeBron James for the Lakers’ poor performance as LeBron is known for recruiting players to his team and pushing the front office. This is what Skip said about as he quoted – “If that is all about LeBron and none about Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss, I have to heap the biggest portion of the blame on LeBron’s plate.”
On the Lakers’ chances of winning or even contending for the title, Skip believes that having Anthony Davis healthy is the only way possible. He said – “If they can get him and more importantly keep him [Anthony Davis] healthy till the playoffs, that is even if they make the playoffs, it will get them a little light at the end of the tunnel”. Skip also made a case for the lack of young and fresh legs is hurting them big time.

Skip further added that LeBron James has now given up on defense and his sole motive remains to chase and catch Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s NBA record. Skip said that he is now ‘resting on the defense’ and that the Lakers in general go as LeBron goes on both ends of the floor. This is evident as LeBron has had a bad year defensively and so have the entire Lakers team despite having some really good defenders on the roster.
