“Blamed Chris Paul, the Rockets fell all over themselves to ship him out” Brian Windhorst pin-points James Harden for not being held accountable for ‘impromptu’ decisions
James Harden
Over the past couple of seasons, James Harden has always been running around franchises in order to establish the same dominance and presence as he once had with/in Houston Rockets. Since making that magical run alongside Chris Paul deep in the Western Conference playoffs only to lose out to Golden State Warriors, the Beard hasn’t been able to lead any team. As a result of which, Brian Windhorst feels Harden has never been made to face the consequences of his decision.
On ESPN’s ‘Get UP,’ Brian Windhorst emphasized upon how James Harden has been running around making impromptu decisions but has never been held accountable. To those who are not aware, first it was Houston Rockets who were literally thrown under the bus to trade Harden, followed up by Kevin Durant’s Brooklyn Nets in the most recent trade window.
Has James Harden always ran away from facing consequences?
After coming out of the shadow of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant as only a ‘supporting’ player, James Harden has landed himself in Philadelphia with another bona fide MVP candidate, Joel Embiid. The organization and its fans now expect to win a championship this season or at the very least come out of the Eastern Conference.
As the Sixers are days away from contesting in their first playoff series with Harden, Windhorst stated, “Because everything James Harden has done for the last three years, he’s felt no consequences for. I can’t even tell you how disappointing the 2019 loss to the Warriors was in the playoffs.
“He shrugged his shoulders and blamed Chris Paul, the Rockets fell all over themselves to ship him out. He was unhappy at Houston, quit on that team, got what he wanted – traded to Brooklyn. Unhappy at Brooklyn, wanted to be trade to Philadelphia, traded to Philadelphia.”
That being said Windhorst does have a point here, over the past couple of seasons, as stated above, James Harden has only been running around teams in an attempt to get back to his veteran best form. Will he be able to answer his prolonged list of critics by supporting Embiid and the Sixers in the 2021-22 playoffs? Remains to be seen.
