“Bona Fide All-Star”- Twitter heaps praises on Domantas Sabonis after his career-high night

Domantas Sabonis scored a career-high to take his team to a much-needed victory on Saturday night. The Indiana Pacers defeated the Utah Jazz 125-113 at home, to have their first win in seven games. The Pacers are currently the 3rd worst team in the Eastern Conference with a 15-25 record for the season. The Utah Jazz lost their 2nd straight today but maintain their 3rd seed with a 28-12 record

For the Indiana Pacers, Domantas Sabonis scored a career-high of 42 points. He went almost perfect from the field as he shot 18-22. He was also 3-4 from the three-point line. Lance Stephenson had a good game off the bench, as he had 16 points and 14 assists for the night. He was +14 for the night, the highest in the lineup.

For the Utah Jazz, Donovan Mitchell had a big game with 36 points and nine assists. Bogdan Bogdanovic contributed with 21 points while the veteran point guard Mike Conley had only nine points for the night. The Jazz also got 18 points from Jordan Clarkson off the bench.

It was shaping up to be a close game before Justin Holiday entered the game when the Pacers were leading 101-97. Holiday then made two consecutive three-pointers to take the Pacers’ lead to 107-99. Keifer Skyes made an offensive tip-in shortly to give the Pacers a 10-point lead. The Jazz then failed to come back into the game as the lead became overwhelming for them.

Domantas Sabonis had his 5th 30-point game of the season and 3rd already in January. Sabonis is averaging 26.6 points per game in January. Thus far he has had 42, 32, 15, 32 respectively in the past four games. Hailing from Lithuania, the big man is already a 2X NBA All-Star and currently in his 6th season. 

Twitter users expressed themselves on this near-perfect scoring from Sabonis.

The Pacers will next visit Boston on Monday to face the Boston Celtics.
