Born June 13, 1961, to Harold Irving and Suckey Grousbeck, Wyc Grousbeck grew up in Dedham, Massachusetts. He completed his high school at the Noble and Greenough School and pursued higher education at Princeton University. Wyc was also part of their lightweight rowing crew which won the National Rowing Championship in 1983.
Grousbeck then achieved his JD degree at Michigan State and his MBA from Stanford Business School in 1992. In the initial years of his professional career, Wyc invested at Highland Capital Partners. Later he would go on to establish the Boston Basketball Partners L.L.C., which claimed the Boston Celtics in 2002. The transition of ownership came for about $360 million, and Wyc has been the Board Chair for the Celtics ever since.
