Bradley Beal highlights Kyle Kuzma’s evident change after leaving LA Lakers

Kyle Kuzma along with some other Lakers players was traded to Washington Wizards in a pack exchange for Russell Westbrook. Now that’s Russell Westbrook has clearly turned this deal into a nightmare for the Lakers, Kyle on the other hand is trying his best to not fail under the category of failed trades.

Kyle Kuzma

Kyle Kuzma was drafted in 2017 by the Brooklyn Nets and in a draft day-trade along with Brook Lopez, he was traded to the Lakers. The Lakers have always had a densely seasoned team. The roster is full of ALL-Stars and MVP, and it was sure that it might cause a problem for the new ones to build a space for themselves when such talents already exist on the team. But fortunately, Kyle made a place for himself but the opportunities were restricted.

The trade to the Wizards has proven itself effective for Kyle Kuzma because he gets much more time on court than what he got while he was with the Lakers. After spending four years with the Lakers he did showcase his electric scoring abilities but the scope to excel was constricted.

Kuzma begins this season on a fantastic note with the Wizards. Though his role on the team was still dubious the way he had molded himself as per the situations on the court is pushing him towards becoming a more polished player. He is a good catcher, a three-point shooter, moves the ball well, and is a great rebounder. He is averaging  14.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists this season.

He scored this season’s highest in the Wizards’ previous match against the Charlotte Hornets. The Wizards managed to contain the young and energetic Hornets in the last quarter and won by 124-121. Kyle Kuzma emerges as the highest scorer of the night with 36 points and spent 41 minutes on the court.

Bradley Beal who dropped 35, said in the post-match conference how Kuzma has improved himself since leaving the Lakers.

“He now has it where he can flap his wings. He can breathe and relax and go play. He doesn’t have to worry about all that outside stuff, the distractions per se. He can go hoop,” said Beal.

Kuzma himself addressed the reporters and confessed that he has nothing but love for the Lakers but his time at Wizards has just opened up new opportunities for him. He said, “I’m just in a great situation here in Washington. The coaching staff believes in me, the players believe in me and I’m just having fun, honestly. I’m having a lot of fun.”

It is great to watch him bloom into a fine player and raise the standard of the game on the court. The Washington Wizards are 19-18 in the league and would face the Houston Rockets on Tuesday.
