Breaking News: Lakers expected to fire Head Coach Frank Vogel after 2021-22 season’s misery; Official announcement to follow

NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, reports that Lakers head coach Frank Vogel has coached his final game for the franchise against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night and will get a notification from the front office for leaving the head coach post by Monday.

This NBA season, the LA Lakers campaign started with a lot of hype to be the western conference favorites but we all know what the actual reality is, the LA-based franchise failed to even qualify for the play-in tournament and has ended their season with 33-49 record. The primary reason for the Lakers’ devasting season is injuries and a poor roaster which failed the team in many aspects and the person who is accounted for this is head coach Frank Vogel.

It was already expected that after a terrible season coach Vogel will get fired by the front office of the Lakers and it seems the time has come for him to leave the position. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Vogel will be notified about it by the Lakers management on Monday. When Vogel was asked about the big breaking, he said that he hasn’t been informed about it.

During the postgame conference, Frank Vogel said, “I haven’t been told s— and I’m going to enjoy tonight’s game, celebrate what these young guys did in terms of scratching and clawing and getting back in this game and getting a W, and we’ll deal with tomorrow, tomorrow.”

Lakers management decides to fire Frank Vogel who’s the most successful head coach for the franchise in last decade

Head coach Frank Vogel was always a big strategist for the defensive front which even helped the Lakers to win the 2020 NBA Championship. But in this season, nothing went according to their plans as they slipped to No. 21 in defense, even acquiring Russell Westbrook didn’t give them the advantage, and everyone started understanding that Vogel’s coaching is no longer effective for the team.

The Lakers, on the other hand, will now be looking for their sixth full-time coach since Phil Jackson retired in 2011. After him, no other coach was as successful as Vogel. Generally, teams always try to retain coaches for a few seasons after winning a championship. But the Lakers don’t fall into that category as they want their staff to give their best every season. Meanwhile, through their action in past decades, it is clear that they will fire anyone who fails to bring glory to the franchise.
