BREAKING NEWS: LeBron James to miss remainder of 2021-22 season; Doesn’t qualify for scoring title

If there was any positive highlight for the purple and gold army, it was surely their marquee scorer LeBron James taking charge of the team and making them cross the line, on his shoulders. Being 37-years-old, the King looked as young and energetic until the ghosts of injuries haunted the Lakers and their championship ambition in the 2021-22 season. On one hand, where the underdogs rose to the occasion, it was the Lakers who emerged as the biggest losers.

However, for LeBron James, the only title he could chase in the remaining 2021-22 NBA Season was to become the scoring leader by surpassing Joel Embiid. But now, even those hopes are brought to an end as he has been ruled out for the last two games remaining in the regular season for the Lakers.

LeBron was already playing while nursing soreness in his knee, twisted his ankle in a game against the New Orleans Pelicans on March 27. The 37-year-old 4xNBA Finals MVP attempted a return against the same team five days later but has since showed up at Lakers games in street clothes.

The Lakers decided to acquire Russell Westbrook before the start of 2021-22 NBA Season. But with his lack of leadership on display, Anthony Davis’ injury woes worsened Lakers consistency. To those who are not aware about the stats, Los Angeles Lakers bet all their chips on AD’s health, but the big man has only played in 40 games. His knee and ankle injuries played a big part in the team’s 10-30 collapse since early January.

To add to the misery of Lakers, with no hopes of making the playoffs, the Lakers decided to bench all of their marquee veterans, including – Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. Not so surprisingly, the team came short against Stephen Curry less Golden State Warriors 128-110.

Given that time is up for LeBron James and Los Angeles Lakers in the 2021-22 season, will we witness the King charged up for the next season? Only time will unravel all answers.
