LeBron James celebrates Trey Murphy's Mom birthday postgame
LeBron James and Co. are trying their best to confirm their seats in the play-in tournament but it seems that New Orleans Pelicans just not only defeated them but also decreased the chance of the Lakers qualifying for the post-season tournament. On Sunday night when both franchisees met for the regular-season game, they both knew that this game was a must-win game to be in the race for play-in.
Meanwhile, in this race, the Pelicans’ have taken the lead from the Lakers as New Orleans are now placed in the ninth seed of the western conference and pushed the LA-based franchise to the 10th spot after they defeated them by 116-108 at Smoothie King Center. This loss was a big embarrassment for the LeBron Company as they got beat in the game despite leading the scorecard by 23 points during the second quarter.
Trey Murphy’s mom nearly in tears after getting a picture with the Lakers superstar LeBron James
Even LeBron James’ efforts were not enough to keep the Lakers on track, where he scored 39 points on the night. Giving the best in a game and still losing it, is the biggest frustration for star players. With this bad mood, players often try to avoid meeting fans as they don’t want to take their frustration out on them. But that’s not the case when it comes to LeBron James.
After the game ended, Trey Murphy’s mom Albeda Murphy was waiting to meet King James in the hall, she was enjoying the moment by taking pictures to commemorate. Bill Oram who witnessed the whole situation reported that it was Albeda’s birthday and she was so happy that the tears come out of her eyes.
When Bill Oram told Trey Murphy’s mom that her son has just beaten LeBron James, in reaction here’s what Albeda said: “But that’s LEBRON!” Trey Murphy III played the biggest antagonist for the Lakers, but still, it didn’t stop the four-time NBA champ to do something special for the rookie’s mom.
Can LeBron James single-handedly make the way for Lakers to qualify for play-in?
Moreover, after this devastating loss, the Lakers are just one game ahead of the San Antonio Spurs in the western conference and the situation for them will go rougher as they are going to face the top team in their remaining games before the regular season windups.
If LeBron and Co. struggled in those remaining games there is no doubt that Gregg Popovich will miss the chance to grab the play-in positions from LA Lakers. With Anthony Davis on the sidelines, there is no big help coming for LeBron James which clearly indicates that we might miss the LA franchise in the playoffs of this season.
