Ever since Anthony Edwards has stepped foot in the NBA as the #1 pick in the 2020 Draft, he has won hearts all over the internet with his play on and off the court. Be it with his charismatic defensive effort, a Tomahawk dunk or perhaps an interaction with a hoop fan, Edwards has always been one step ahead. While many fans feel, the kid is going to be an NBA star, he displayed just why.

Minnesota Timberwolves marquee Anthony Edwards personally reached out to a kid, who tragically lost his family in a house fire. Moreover, the former gave the kid a message filled with hope and inspiration. The incident took place in 2021, January, particular (27th) when Taeden Johnson was wounded in the above spoken accident in Athens, Georgia. He raced to his neighbors’ house to call 911, but eventually it was pretty late to save his mother, sister and grandmother for the tragedy.

As soon as Anthony Edwards got the news of this tragic incident, he reached out to Johnson as he too had lost his mother and grandmother due to cancer, when he just in Grade 8th. According to the mentor of Taeden Johnson, the facetime call Edwards and Johnson had, was super inspiring for the kid. 

“He just said, ‘Hey, Taeden, look man, I lost my mother, I also lost my grandmother at a young age and look where I’m at now. Never give up,” Hendrix told OnlineAthens.com

Edwards also told Taeden,“Always give 110% to where you eventually want to go. Just follow your dreams and nothing will stop you from doing that.” 

The Timberwolves marquee then instructed the 13-year-old to save his phone number and welcomed him to “reach out any time.”

That being said, from being one of the worst teams in his debut NBA season, Edwards has led Timberwolves alongside Karl Anthony Towns in the play-in tournament berths. Moreover, the team is chasing Denver Nuggets to secure a play-off berth. If successful, will Anthony Edwards be one of the most influential players in the 2021-22 season?
