With the Los Angeles Lakers enduring one of their franchise worst seasons in 2022, it seems like the agony and frustration of all the die-hard fans have fallen upon the shoulders of Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis. However, with the purple and gold army expected to roll out major changes before heading into the next season, one marquee star whose seat could be in doubt is AD.
Moreover, Anthony Davis who has led the Lakers to the 2020 NBA Championship, has increasingly seen trade rumors going wild. So, this time around, he decided to opinionate upon the same and reveal his honest thoughts.
What was opinionated by Anthony Davis?
“I can’t control those things,” Anthony Davis told Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “That’s an upstairs thing. A Klutch, Rich Paul thing. My agency.
“I mean, my job is to go out and play basketball. Obviously I love it in L.A. If that’s something that they’re considering, then we’ll have a conversation about it. I don’t know what they’re talking about, what’s the plan.”
Davis is basically saying here that he would love to stay with the Lakers, but if they’re thinking of letting him go then there’s nothing, he can do about it. This is how bad things are for the Lakers right now, that they’re actually being linked to an extensive squad overhaul that could involve the best player on their roster outside of LeBron James. Anthony Davis was supposed to be LA’s cornerstone superstar once LeBron hangs it up, but, apparently, there’s now a chance that Davis might not even get that opportunity.
That being said, Anthony Davis has been majorly haunted by injuries for the past couple of seasons. Will he be given a chance to redeem himself in the 2022-23 season? Remains to be one of the most awaited speculations which has to be answered sooner rather than later. Lastly, will LeBron James once again step into the shoes of the ‘unofficial’ General manager in order to keep his brotherhood intact with AD? Only time will tell.
