CJ McCollum’s 4-word message to Blazers after trade to Pelicans
CJ McCollum
With the trade deadline approaching, all teams are trying to strengthen their roster by acquiring marquee players. The latest player to make the buzz with his mega trade has been CJ McCollum who has parted ways with the Portland Trail Blazers to join New Orleans Pelicans. Having to depart from a city that has given him a lot of admiration, McCollum has nothing but love.
On Twitter before the deal was signed, CJ McCollum quote-tweeted a video tribute the Portland Trail Blazers made for him. The marquee shooter was drafted 10th in the 2013 NBA Draft Class, and since then has been able to establish himself has one of the most consistent scorers for the team alongside Damian Lillard. The 30-years-old guard seemed to be leading the team in the absence of Lillard, yet now has decided to join forces alongside Brandon Ingram.

End of an era as CJ McCollum part ways with Pelicans
CJ McCollum’s name was been sparked in the trade mill previously with other teams, but not many believed that the 30-years-old guard will be traded away from Portland. Especially when he has been held in such high regard alongside Damian Lillard. Safe to say, with this trade it looks like the Blazers are firm in their stance to build the right team around Damian Lillard.
They have been cutting salaries with their recent moves, hinting that they are gearing up to land a top-tier talent either at the trade deadline or in the offseason via trade or free agency. While McCollum is no longer with the team, there is no doubt that he will be remembered as a team icon.
That being said, the Portland Trail Blazers are just one place behind the New Orleans Pelicans to make the play-in tournament berths. While the Pelicans have managed to register a 4-game winning streak, the Trail Blazers have not been able to gather their pace without Lillard and as a result of which are currently on a 5-game losing streak. Currently, which is the second biggest losing streak, behind Brooklyn Nets’ 9-games.
