“Classless”: UCLA Forward Mac Etienne arrested after viral video cited ‘Proof’ of spitting on fan

Hoop players be it in college or in the NBA are known to wear their heart on their sleeves whilst representing their respective team on and off the court as well. While a confrontation at time with fans can be heated, these athletes are expected to portray the spirit of sportsmanship throughout. Surely, wasn’t the case with UCLA Forward, Mac Etienne who decided to spit on a fan in a video that has gone viral.

To those who are not aware, UCLA feel to Wildcats 76-66 at the McKale Center. After the game, cameras seemed to have captured 6’10 forward, Mac Etienne getting into a heated verbal argument with the fans. Not shortly, the freshman decided to go one-step further and spit on those fans, not once but twice.

In the viral video, the spoken off forward can be seen exchanging words with people in the stands before he appeared to spit at them twice. The footage shows officials then grabbing Etienne and hurrying him away from the scene.
According to the L.A. Times, University of Arizona police found and cited Etienne a short time later. The outlet reported Etienne was not detained, though, and was allowed to leave the city with the rest of his team that same night.

“UCLA Athletics is committed to and expects the highest level of sportsmanship,” a spokesperson for UCLA men’s basketball said in a statement to the Times. “We are aware of the incident involving a student-athlete at tonight’s men’s basketball game, and the matter is under review.”

That being said, Mac Etienne has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to an injury. So far, he played 13 contests for his team wherein he had started in just one of them.
