“Clippers disregarded him as a leader or a tough player” Colin Cowherd makes bold disclosure on Anthony Davis

Colin Cowherd and Anthony Davis

Colin Cowherd a sports media personality known for his bold takes on players and teams recently took a shot at the Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis. On his podcast which goes by the name of “The Colin Cowherd Podcast” discussing the league around as the playoffs approach he took a critical dig on the Lakers’ centre and the second-best man on the board after LeBron James. The Los Angeles Lakers have had a terrible season a complete failure as their Big Three didn’t work and so did the veteran roster built by the management as they recently scapegoated their Head Coach Frank Vogel by firing him. But it was the players who got it all wrong.

The Los Angeles Lakers are out of the postseason and it’s a wrap for them. As they fail to even make it to the play-in tournament since the Phoenix Suns wiped them off the picture. Things could have been different if the team woke up early and especially their big guy Anthony Davis. AD has been an injury-prone player for the last two seasons as he has missed 76 games in those seasons. He was also out of shape and form during the start of the season. As he missed many shots, fell down during the clutch moments as he failed to step up, and was also at the bottom of the efficiency list.

Anthony Davis this season has averaged 23.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 2.2 blocks per game. He suited up for only 40 games this season and was sidelined for the rest ones due to injuries, especially the lower body ones. He was also heavily trolled and criticized for being soft and nicked by fans as “Day-to-Day Davis”. Recently, Colin Cowherd revealed a story around Los Angeles Clippers predicting it all right with Anthony Davis.

Colin Cowherd disclosing a great prediction regarding Anthony Davis by Los Angeles Clippers’ front office quoted: “I had a good source inside the Clippers that told me when AD was on the market, they didn’t think he was a leader or tough. They thought he was gifted. And they didn’t think he would play through injuries. They didn’t think he worked out enough. The idea was everybody loved A.D., and the Clippers have a very deep roster, and very shrewd front office. They didn’t love him. And their takeaway was he has to be led. He can’t lead.”

The take isn’t wrong at all. As to be honest that’s exactly what Anthony Davis has been lately in his career. He was not in that great shape after the off-season and he was injury-prone throughout the games he played and even he agrees with it. So it’s not wrong to say that the Clippers pulled a smart move and went for a deep and young roster rather than trying to get Anthony Davis. But we shouldn’t forget that AD has also played an important role in leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a championship. So it’s not about him being a good leader it’s more about him being healthy.
