Every year there are a couple of things fans and followers of the NBA look forward to and among them is to see their favorite team win a title and of course, the All-Star weekend when the league’s best shooters, dunkers, rookies, and overall players come together to entertain the world.
This year seems much more exciting after having a few players return to the game after months of rehabilitation. We may possibly see Klay Thompson returning back to the All-Star games and three-point contest in hopes of battling it out with his long-time teammate Stephen Curry. Among the league elite players are a few fresh faces as well who might make their first-ever appearance during the All-Star weekend.
Injury updates and recovery status for the Los Angeles Clippers
Despite the Los Angeles Clippers putting in all the effort they have to reach the playoffs, it seems that injuries have gotten the best of them. Kawhi Leonard succumbed to an ACL tear last season which cost them a title shot. It said that he is ahead of his recovery schedule with a definite chance of debuting next season.
Paul George had another MVP caliber season averaging nearly 27 points early in the season with 7.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 2 steals per game. He shot 42.1% from the field and 32.3% from three making 2.7 per game. He suffered a UCL tear in his right elbow requiring him to remain out for several weeks.
Clippers Head Coach Tyronn Lue wants Luke Kennard to win the three-point contest
With the All-Star competitions fast approaching, Head Coach Tyronn Lue seems to have skewered up a plan with the remaining players on his roster. In a post-game interview, Lue was asked if he thought Luke Kennard would do well in the three-point contest.
He said,” I think if he goes and he’s able to do it. I think to win the three-point shooting contest would give him a lot more confidence coming back to the team. His job is to shoot the ball.”
The shooting guard has been averaging 12.3 points with 3.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this season. Since George’s absence, Kennard has been a valuable piece in shooting the ball. He averages 2.8 threes per game shooting 43.9% on 6.4 attempts.
