“Delusions Are Crazy”: Colin Cowherd reckons comparing LeBron James’ Lakers to Tom Brady’s Bucs is SENSELESS

LeBron James and Tom Brady

Tom Brady is not just one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time but one of the finest leaders as well. He constantly pushed everyone around him to go for glory. In 2019, the Bucs finished in 3rd position in the NFC South. With a 7-9 record, the side needed a push to go the extra mile in the next season.

That push was provided by superstar QB Tom Brady in 2020. Although they started off slowly, soon the team started playing as a unit and went on to win the Super Bowl in an emphatic fashion. At halfway stage in NBA, LA Lakers are also in a similar position as the Bucs were early on in 2020.

The Lakers are currently in the 7th position in the West and the star players in the side are struggling to find their rhythm. However, much like Brady, LeBron James still has a lot of faith in his side. According to Anthony, even before the season started, Brady had told his team, “Just from the standpoint of starting off slow and having new guys on the team. New system. Guys trying to figure it out, guys trying to figure out how to play with LeBron and (Anthony Davis) and now incorporating Russ and just now everybody figuring out what their role is.”

And what made it beautiful for the Bucs is that once it came together, it came together and you saw what happened with that,” James had said. However, Colin Cowherd reckons that comparing the Lakers to the 2020 Bucs does not make sense.

Delusions are crazy,” Colin said about LeBron’s statement, adding that there is a rule which holds true for NBA titles and Super Bowls. “You have to have a majority of star players in the side in their prime to win championships,” he said, adding that in 2020, the Bucs had a plethora of stars who were performing out of their skins but the Lakers don’t have that luxury this season.

Out of the 7-8 difference makers, at least 5-6 Bucs players were in their prime in 2020, whereas the Lakers have only one star player in his prime. It’s not LeBron James, it’s not Russell Westbrook, it’s Anthony Davis. So, they are not going to win a championship,” Colin added.
