It looks like the Golden State Warriors’ 2025-26 campaign has gone from bad to worse after Moses Moody‘s latest injury. The Warriors registered a hard-fought 137-131 overtime victory over the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center on Monday night.

After a much-needed win that could have been a morale booster for the remainder of the season, the Warriors suffered another huge setback. Moses Moody went down with a gruesome, non-contact knee injury.

After a clean steal, Moody was through all alone on a fast break. Before he could go for a dunk, his knee seemed to give in, and he had an awkward landing. It looked like a severe injury that may rule him out for the rest of the season. He was stretchered off from the court as he could not even stand on his two feet.

Drafted by the Warriors as the 14th pick in the 2021 NBA draft, Moses Moody has won over Steve Kerr and the coaching staff with a regular starting position this season. The 23-year-old signed a contract extension with the Dubs in 2024. Since then, he has grown into a solid two-way player for the Dubs.

Moody was making his return after missing the last 10 games due to a finger injury. The Warriors have gone 2-8 during this period.

Since Jimmy Butler tore his ACL, which ended his season, the Warriors’ hopes for making a deep playoff run came to an abrupt end. With Stephen Curry ruled out for the last two months as well, they have struggled to string any wins.

The Warriors had lost their previous three games heading into their clash against the Mavs. The win improved their record to 34-38 as they sit at tenth place in the Western Conference standings. They are 1.5 games behind the Portland Trail Blazers. Meanwhile, the Mavs lost their fourth game in a row and find themselves at 13th place in the standings with a 23-49 record. They are eliminated from playoff contention.

NBA fans react to Moses Moody’s season-ending knee injury

With ten games to go and Stephen Curry nearing his return, the Warriors will be looking to make a late push for the eighth spot as they are two games behind the Los Angeles Clippers. But after this latest injury, the Warriors may struggle to climb up.

The horrific injury was quick to go viral, and NBA fans reacted to it across social media.

The fans hoped it was not too serious, even though it looked horrific. Moody’s 2025-26 campaign may be over as the Dub nation awaits his reports.

It is never a pleasing sight to see a player going down with an injury. What makes it worse is that Moody was having a really good game after missing the last ten games.

He played an instrumental role in their overtime win and made an impact on both ends of the floor. Moody ended his night with a team-high 23 points, three rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks.

Following the game, Cooper Flagg, who had a productive night himself, spoke about Moody’s injury in his post-match press conference.

I couldn’t really tell. His leg kinda gave out. But it’s tough.. I’m praying for him and whatever he’s gonna go through, it’s terrible. But yeah, just praying for him.
