If there is one glimmer of hope for the San Antonio Spurs in the 2021-22 season, it surely is there rising star Dejounte Murray, who has produced consistent performances game after game. However, during Spurs most recent encounter against the potential Western Conference title contenders, Grizzlies. With JA Morant coming late to the show, to register his historic performance, Murray couldn’t have a positive impact after hitting the referee with a ball.

But that being said, the pain of the loss is surely going to sting Dejounte Murray for long as he has been fined for his actions by the NBA. The league recently announced that the marquee San Antonio Spurs star will be hit by a $20,000 fine for his actions.

Dejounte Murray fined by the NBA 

Talking about the particular incident, Dejounte Murray threw a somewhat hard pass at a referee’s legs during a stoppage of play. The pass was intentionally low and hard, though it seemed like the San Antonio Spurs point guard was simply giving them the ball in a frustrated manner. Nonetheless, the hard pass was earned him an ejection near the end of the game, which resulted in the Spurs’ 38th loss of the 2021-22 season.

Aside from this incident, Murray has been enjoying a very strong season with the Spurs. The first-time All-Star is averaging 20.1 points, 9.4 assists, 8.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game and is second in the league in triple-doubles, trailing only reigning MVP from Denver Nuggets, Nikola Jokic.

Having said that, Murray has been the brightest star for the San Antonio Spurs and has looked in great shape throughout the season. Probably which can be justified, knowing that he was named an All-Star replacement. On the other hand, Memphis Grizzlies seem to be one of the most competitive underdogs in the 2021-22 season. But will they be able to re-write the betting odds by going the ultimate distance on the grandest stage? Remains to be seen.
