The Super Bowl LVI was a mouth-watering contest scheduled between the Bengal and Rams, starred with the likes of celebrities on and off the field. Safe to say, football fans were thrilled to see drama on as well as, off the stage as rapper Eminem took a knee during the half-time show despite reports claiming that NFL tried to stop him from doing so.
To those who are not aware, Eminem joined an All-Star cast for a short medley performance during the Super Bowl LVI half-time show to perform a snippet of ‘Forgot About Dre’ and ‘Lose Yourself’. Whilst the end of his performance, he dropped on his knee (the symbolic gesture of Black Lives Matter Movement) and was championed by former Quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

That being said the Super Bowl LVI half-time bonanza was deemed as the greatest show of all time by football fans as Eminem was joined on the stage by artists like Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Dr Dre, 50 Cent and Mary J. Blige.
That being said Eminem’s devotion to Black Lives Matter was probably stopped by the NFL as they wouldn’t want controversies to add up to the previous years. The Super Bowl half-time show is no stranger to controversy, obviously. In the break between halves at Super Bowl XXXVII, Justin Timberlake exposed Janet Jackson’s breast, then later on in 2012 MIA flipped her middle finger towards the audience during her performance alongside Madonna.
Hence, this could be potentially why the NFL wouldn’t want anything controversial to happen this year. But given the stature of Eminem, he is no force which can be stopped from doing what he wants to.

Lastly, apart from the mega showdown, when the ‘artistic’ line-up was announced for the half-time show, watched by billions around the globe, Dr Dre released a statement that said, “The opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, and to do it in my own backyard, will be one of the biggest thrills of my career.
“I’m grateful to JAY-Z, Roc Nation, the NFL, and Pepsi as well as Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar for joining me in what will be an unforgettable cultural moment.”
