“Everybody knows what THE KING means to the league” JA Morant reveals his desire to out LeBron James on a poster
LeBron James and Ja Morant
Ja Morant has been one of the most exciting to watch this season after suddenly bursting out onto the scene with his explosiveness and numbers. If there is one skill Morant is known for, it is his ability to score and cut through to the rim. We have seen him throw down some vicious dunks and most of them are worthy of being all-time slams.
The Memphis Grizzlies point guard is now in his third year in the league and his game took a drastic turn for the better this season. During the 2019 NBA draft, Morant was taken second overall by the Grizzlies after his former AAU teammate Zion Williamson. He went on to win the Rookie of the Year award over Williamson as he was injured and managed to put up 17.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 6.7 assists. This year he averages an impressive 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game on 49.3% shooting.
Ja Morant reveals he wants to dunk over LeBron James
Ja Morant was asked whom he would like to dunk on and he replied saying, “LeBron. I mean, everybody knows what LeBron means to this league and where he’s at being one of the best to ever touch a basketball. That’s my guy. But yeah, definitely. That moment, I need. But I need it to be chest to chest. Not him on the side or anything, because you don’t get a lot of credit for that. I need it to be him jumping and me jumping right in front.”
LeBron James would certainly be up to the challenge put forth by the player. Despite being 37-years old James still has the athleticism of a 20-year old similar to Morant. We have seen him excel on the defensive end of the floor despite being an offensive pioneer. This certainly is not the first time Morant has spoken about dunking on the King. The last time this was mentioned, he jokingly said he would get a technical foul call if he tried dunking over the Los Angeles Lakers forward.
Ja Morant sets the record straight for the Memphis Grizzlies leading up the playoffs
This season Morant earned his first all-star selection and happened to be a starter for out of the Western Conference. Morant was offered to take part in the slam dunk contest. But the player had rejected the offer saying it would not benefit him in any way. He later confessed that he got one billion likes on social media, which he would consider the dunk contest.
His talents had brought the Grizzlies to their best season yet after being out of title contention for many years. They currently have the second-best record in the league occupying the second seed in the West with a record of 49 wins and 23 losses. They are set to take on the Brooklyn Nets in their upcoming game but Morant will not play as he suffers from knee soreness.
