Ex-wife of late Lorenzen Wright receives 30-years prison sentence after pleading guilty to facilitating his murder

Lorenzen Wright was a familiar face in the NBA as he spent 13 years in the league, after being drafted seventh overall in the 1996 NBA Draft by the LA Clippers. During his stint in the league, he played for four other team as well – Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers. The 34-years-old was the victim of a tragic and heart-breaking murder in 2010.
The ex-wife of Lorenzen Wright, Sherra Wright pleaded guilty of facilitating first-degree murder in his shooting death nine years ago and will receive a 30-year imprisonment banishment as per Adrian Sanz of Associate Press. To those who are not aware, she did make her plea during a hearing in Shelby County Criminal Court in Tennessee.

Ex-wife of Lorenzen Wright, Sherra Wright was charged with first-degree murder in 2017 and was set to go on trial on Sept. 16, along with her alleged accomplice, Billy Turner.
Lorenzen Wright’s ex-wife Sherra receives 30-years imprisonment
According to reports, Sherra Wright initially planned to kill her ex-husband before the actual murder in Memphis. She allegedly hired two men to assassinate Lorenzen Wright in his home in Atlanta, but the assailants failed. She and Turner then conspired together to kill the former NBA player.
The murder of Lorenzen Wright had remained unsolved for almost an entire decade. His body was found in a swampy field in Memphis in July 2010. He was 34 years old at that time. Prior to the discovery of his corpse, he had already been missing for 10 days. His body had bullet wounds, and it was believed that his ex-wife was the perpetrator of the crime.
Having said that, as heart-breaking as it may sound, Lorenzen Wright was a bright talent in the NBA, averaging 8 points, 6.4 rebounds whilst appearing in more than 775 games in the league.
