Governors of the MSL board approved the sale of the team to David Blitzer and the Smith Entertainment Group on Wednesday. The team was put on sale after its former owner Dell Loy Hansen made a racist comment. As per Associated Press, the soccer team deal includes Rio Tinto Stadium, the RSL Academy, the MLS Next Pro team Real Monarchs, and the club’s Zions Bank Training Center.
When former MVP Wade retired in 2019, he cleared his take to get involved in a lot of investments and business. In April, Wade purchased an ownership stake at Utah Jazz, and even his son Zaire Wade is also currently playing with the Jazz G-League affiliate Salt Lake City Stars.

Wade joins the elite group of NBA Soccer team owners
After his purchase in the soccer league Wade has joined a group of elite players like James Harden, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James who also own and invested in soccer teams of MSL.
We have seen players investing in different business ventures but very few have invested in Soccer teams. James Harden owns a 5% stake in the Houston Dynamo and Kevin Durant owns 5% of the ownership stake in the Philadelphia Union. While Lebron James has purchased the 2% stake in the Merseyside club, Liverpool.
Even though Real Salt Lake made it to the Western Conference finals they had a burdensome season before the playoff, but will this purchase of franchise prove to be the efficient one.
