Joel Embiid is now almost being recognised as the King of flopping and not the MVP Leader board as the player doesn’t seem to stop.

Joel Embiid’s flopping saga continued in the Philadelphia 76ers’ 96-84 Game 2 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Monday. Although Embiid is considered one of the top players in the NBA, his tendency to flop has frustrated both fans and other players. In Game 2 of the first round of the playoff series, Embiid had one of the worst flops in recent memory. This comes after Embiid already flopped against the Nets in Game 1.

Last time, Embiid flopped against Dorian Finney-Smith, this time it was Royce O’Neale’s turn. In the third quarter of the game, Finney-Smith and Embiid were both clashing in the paint, right under the rim. Finney-Smith tussled with Embiid for the ball but saw Embiid throw himself to the ground. It was obvious that Embiid was flopping. Royce O’Neale was called for a foul on Joel Embiid as they were battling for position.

Fans were unhappy with Embiid’s flopping, and they roasted him on Twitter. In the Sixers’ Game 1 win over the Nets, Embiid fell to the floor, clutching his face following a forceful dunk attempt after being lightly touched on the face by Dorian Finney-Smith.

Joel Embiid’s flop against the Nets wasn’t looked upon too kindly on social media. When he flopped in Game 1, Lillard tweeted, “Embiid looked back to see if it went in and then tried to sell the flagrant.” Like Lillard, everyone spotted the problems with his actions and called him various words. Let us look at some of the tweets.

Although flopping is not uncommon in the NBA, Joel Embiid is known for being one of the most frequent and obvious perpetrators. Flopping is a way for players to gain an advantage by drawing fouls, free throws, or altering the momentum of the game. Despite warnings and fines issued by the NBA to discourage this behavior, some players continue to flop, including Embiid, who has been fined multiple times for this offense but has not ceased this behavior.
