In one of the most engrossing games of the season, NBA referee Scott Foster was under the microscope once again due to some questionable decisions in what was otherwise a very exciting match. The Denver Nuggets came out on top in a closely fought match as they won 142-138 in overtime against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Ball Arena on Thursday night.
The win improved the Nuggets’ record to 22-8 as they are currently placed at third in the Western Conference standings, while the Timberwolves find themselves at fifth with a 20-11 record, only 0.5 games ahead of the Houston Rockets.
The Timberwolves pulled off an incredible comeback led by Anthony Edwards as they were down by 14 points heading into the fourth quarter. Edwards ended the game with a game-high 44 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Leading contender for league MVP Nikola Jokic put on a historic show for the home fans as he recorded another triple-double. The Serbian center recorded 56 points, 16 rebounds and 15 assists. It was a clash where both superstars stepped up to the plate.
NBA official Scott Foster has been under the scanner several times in his 30-year career. And Thursday night was no different. Foster handed Edwards two technical fouls in the span of five seconds and was ejected in overtime, much to the disappointment of the fans.
Referees often face backlash for their decisions, which is the nature of their job, especially in a contact sport like basketball. All the fans can hope for is that the referees are more consistent with their calls.

Hate how NBA games have been ending lately. Refs doing too much. Fans want to see game winners and clutch shots, not challenges and cheap free throws. Let the guys hoop.

Anthony Edwards tries to disrupt Nikola Jokic
Heading into the Christmas Day fixture, Edwards put some added pressure on himself when he said he would score 30 points and maybe even 40 points. If there is one thing that the fans have learned since Edwards entered the NBA, it is that he loves to walk the walk.

The 24-year-old backed up his statements and ended up scoring 44. The Wolves guard has taken his offensive skillset to another level after seeking help from Michael Jordan during the offseason. Despite the incredible performance, Edwards would not have expected a historic performance from the Joker.
With 56.4 seconds left in overtime, Rudy Gobert picked up his 6th foul and was ejected. The foul sent Jokic to the free-throw line. Edwards tried to throw off Jokic, who was preparing to shoot free throws by making contact, which clearly irked the three-time league MVP.

With 21 seconds left, Edwards was sent off after receiving two technical fouls. The two sides will clash again on March 1 for the fourth time this season as the Nuggets lead the head-to-head 3-0.
