A docuseries on the life of Earvin “Magic” Johnson Jr. is going to be premiered on Apple TV and the dates are set for 22nd April, something like The Last Dance, which showcased the life of Michael Jordan and his time with the Chicago Bulls.

They Call Me Magic set to be released on April 22nd
After the release of the Last Dance, another docuseries is on the way which will give a glimpse about the life of the Lakers legend, Magic Johnson. Apple TV has made an announcement of the docuseries which will contain 4 parts, it is going to show a rare glimpse into the life of Magic Johnson and his career on and off the court. The docuseries will give access to the world to see who Magic Johnson was, from being the Laker Legend and forever stamping his name as an NBA legend, from retiring prematurely due to HIV and becoming a successful businessman, from humble beginnings to stardom, the series is called “They Call Me Magic”.
Magic Johnson in an interview with the Wrap spoke about the docuseries, he said that this is going to be different than the Last Dance, and the Laker legend believes that this docuseries will be very much liked by Scottie Pippen after the Last Dance was released which showcased the life of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls winning the NBA championship 6 times in a span of 8 years.
Magic Johnson also said, “It’s totally different. ‘The Last Dance’ was about basketball and Michael’s mindset and attitude towards winning. This is about my family. This is about me being a businessman. I’s a life journey. I think Scottie would like it more, no question about it,” Johnson said.”
A docuseries to be loved by Scottie Pippen
The Last Dance was a docuseries that was released that showcased Michal Jordan’s life and his will for success while being with the Chicago Bulls. The series was praised by fans critics alike, but it was a surprise to see that Michael Jordans former teammate Scottie Pippen hated it and came out with words to let out his frustrations. Scottie Pippen said, “They glorified Michael Jordan while not giving nearly enough praise to me and my proud teammates. Michael deserved a large portion of the blame. The producers had granted him editorial control of the final product.”
While some agree with Pippen where they believe it was Michael who gained more fame and was put up to another pedestal at the cost of his teammates who were if not equally but deservedly helped the Bulls to win 6 Championships. It was after the series that the pair Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen went on an all-out war with each other and subsequently ended their relationship with each other.
With this said it will be quite fascinating to see what Magic Johnson’s docuseries will bring, it will all be exciting if the same things follow what followed after the Last Dance was released.
