Adam Silver‘s NBA is going through a period where fans are deserting the game. A boring brand of basketball has gone hand in hand with the lack of new superstars. But even then, some such as Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler cannot let go of their love for the game.

Sandler has made movies surrounding sports and his most recent one, Hustle, was a major hit. But he does not just suit up for the sake of creating a movie. He is a certified baller who loves to play a game of pick up whenever the chance arises.

He was at the Oscars earlier and host Conan O’Brien noticed what he was wearing and asked him about it. The Happy Gilmore star went on to say that no one noticed what he was wearing until O’Brien brought it up.

He was wearing a pair of shorts and a hoodie to an event when everyone was wearing the best outfits designers could create. Along with that Adam Sandler wore Steph Curry‘s Curry 11’s on his feet, completing the basketball look he wanted to project.

This was a comical reference to the events in the White House over the past few days. However, Sandler brought the attention back to basketball when he invited the audience to play a game of 5 on 5 with him at Veteran Park after the event.

Along with him was longtime friend Ben Stiller, who was on stage to present the award for production design. He was not outfitted like his 58-year-old friend and instead was in a black tuxedo while on stage.

Fans stunned by basketball centric Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller

But what caught the attention of fans was his tweet, ‘KNICKS WIN’, while the Oscars were in session. Fans were left in awe that these two comedic legends would go out of their way to talk about basketball at the grandest stage the entertainment world has.

Fans of the sport especially were in awe that the two brought the game to the attention of the world watching the Oscars, something even the NBA itself is struggling to do on its own. Check out examples of those surprised reactions below.

Adam Sandler might not get too many from Hollywood to play basketball with him. But at least he had the room thinking about the game for a while. Recently Hollywood stars have been making their way to the game. Maybe this stunt encourages to attend games.
