If there is one man who has changed the entire championship scenario for his team in a couple of season’s time, it is surely Philadelphia 76ers’ marquee Joel Embiid. The 28-year-old center has not only led his team on the offensive board, but his leadership on the defensive end has changed the entire dynamics of this team. Given his importance, approaching playoffs, Sixers’ fans were given a major heartache when he screamed in agony during the team’s latest encounter against eliminated Indiana Pacers.

After LeBron James has decided to sit out for the remaining 2021-22 season for the Lakers, Embiid had time to take charge of the leading point scorer. Given the opportunity, the 3rd overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft went onto showcase his strength, agility and power to average 30.4 points per game. More than any other play in the 2021-22 season.

Talking about the particular play, in the third quarter, Joel Embiid took the ball in order to score dominantly in the paint. Little did he know, Tyrese Haliburton came running in to smash his knee onto Embiid’s. Which evidently caused much pain for the latter marquee scorer.

But given the incident, Embiid went onto start in the team’s next encounter against the Toronto Raptors, wherein he managed to register a double-double with 30 points, 10 rebounds. Although the Sixers lost 114-199 against the Raptors, yet Embiid was able to establish his power in the paint. 

The Sixers are currently 4th in the Eastern Conference, while the Raptors are 5th. While the former team in 6-4 in their last 10 games, Raptors are 8-2. If the postseason was bound to begin on this day, it would be these two teams itself, who go onto lock horns against one another. The importance of Joel Embiid for the Sixers in the postseason, goes beyond description. But will he be able to avenge the surprising exit from last season? Remains to be seen.
