“Forget the title, forget the title runs” Kendrick Perkins claims Lakers to be ‘Biggest Disappointment in NBA History’ if they miss the playoffs

Kendrick Perkins on Los Angeles Lakers

On Sunday night, 9th seeded Los Angeles Lakers locked horns against the 10th seeded New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center. Until halftime the away team, witnessed a 23-point lead and were set to ease past their competitors until they went onto lose the game by 8-points. After which Kendrick Perkins decided to not let the Lakers off the hook easily, and slammed them to be on the verge of becoming the worst NBA disappointment ever.

The Lakers are just a couple of wins ahead of San Antonio Spurs, in the 10th seed. In simpler ways, they are inches away from being knocked out of the play-in tournament berths. How ironic it is to imagine a team comprising of the likes of Anthony Davis, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony might not even go onto feature in the post season.

Kendrick Perkins urged and detailed upon the fact that the Lakers would be “the biggest disappointments in NBA history” if they fail to make the playoffs this season. He was distraught at the Lakers’ slipup in a game they controlled.

“Forget the titles, forget the title runs, being a title contender, forget making noise in the playoffs.” Perkins said. “If the Lakers miss the playoffs, which they have a strong possibility of doing, they could be the biggest disappointments in NBA history, period.”

Talking about the summary of the game for those who missed it, the Lakers (31-43) lost 116-108 despite leading 69-49 at halftime. They were outscored 41-25 in the third, as the Pelicans were inspired by Trey Murphy III. The Pels (32-43) then outscored Los Angeles 26-14 in the final quarter.

Given that Kendrick Perkins is one of the many frustrated NBA fans who cannot simply witness the Lakers falling game after game, they desperately need to throw the kitchen sink and get the services of Anthony Davis back into their side. But will it be too little, too late for AD to join forces with LeBron in the 2021-22 NBA Season? Remains to be seen.
