Former NBA star Lorenzen Wright finally gets justice as Tennessee murderer finally gets life imprisonment

On Monday, former NBA player Lorenzen Wright finally got justice as his gun-wielding murderer Billy Turner has now been convicted for killing and sent to prison for the rest of his life. Wright was wounded with multiple gunshots when his body was found in a swampy field near his hometown in Memphis, Tennessee, in July 2010- before his death news broke out, the reports of him going missing already stunned the entire NBA universe.
In his entire basketball career, Wright played for many top-notched NBA franchises which are the Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, and Cleveland Cavaliers. While playing for 13 seasons in America’s top league he got most of his fame when he played for the Grizzlies which is also his hometown, with so much popularity among NBA fans his death was a shock for all basketball fans because of which his murder case became the most high-profile case in city’s record books.

Wright’s mother, Deborah Marion pleased to hear the verdict as her son finally gets justice after almost 12 years
In 2017, after seven years of Lorenzen Wright’s death, his ex-wife was found to be the main guilty as after investigation it was found that it was on her request Billy Ray Turner agreed to end the life of her former ex-husband, Sherra was also alleged for having an affair with 51-year-old Turner. For this criminal conspiracy, Sherra Wright-Robinson was sentenced to 30 years in prison in July 2019 after she was arrested two years back. She will be eligible for parole only after 9 years.

For Billy Turner, the court on Monday set a jury of 12 judges to sentence him for his charges. After two hours of deliberation, the Jury convicted Billy Ray Turner of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy in Wright’s death.
Wright’s family finally got justice and was pleased with the verdict. Outside the court, Wright’s mother, Deborah Marion, mentioned how she felt of the verdict, she said:
“It will never be closure, because I will never see my son again. This is just some satisfaction for me and my family.”
Although the motive of the crime by Wright’s ex-wife was not clear, Paul Hagerman, prosecuting, told the court that the murder was provoked due to jealousy. Later, even Lorenzen Wright’s mother told the court: “That’s what it was about. Money.”
