NBA Free Agent Goran Dragic could open the door for teams beyond Miami Heat

Goran Dragic

Goran Dragic averaged more than 19 points in the 2019-20 season

Ever since Goran Dragic started playing after the restart of the 2019-20 season, he was one the key reasons why Miami Heat did so well in the playoffs. Having being injured for most games in the finals against the Los Angeles Lakers saw the team clearly miss his presence on the court. Although the 2019-20 season’s conclusion was followed by Dragic’s long term contract expiring with the Miami Heat.

Dragic is currently in his 12th NBA season. He knows that now as he has become an unrestricted free agent, would not be topping the list of any franchise. But given his blasting performance in the playoffs Dragic is an asset for any team he plays in. As the $85 million contract comes to an end with the Miami Heat, Dragic discussed his free agency approach with Shams Charania.

I know this is business: Goran Dragic

“For me, the most important thing is to be respected because I put a lot of hardwork in my game and I think I play hard,” Dragic said.

Goran Dragic averaged 16.6 points in 2015, his first season with the Heat, and the Slovenian notched up similar numbers in his fifth year as well. The journey has been great and the 2020 season certainly goes down as one of the most memorable ones.

“Of course, I know Miami wants to bring me back. I’m hoping we finish this championship run next season. But I know this is part of the business. A lot of options here, and you know, we’ll see,” added Dragic.

Dragic has adored his time at the Heat but has kept his option open. Just in case if the Heat do not open their arms, he is not the one who is left scrambling.

“I’m open to all suggestions and from there on we’re gonna see which one is the best possibility for me and my family. Miami is up there. They were great to me and hopefully, we can make a deal,” mentioned Dragic.

Having said that Dragic looks very keen on signing with the Heat again. In the hopes of pulling off a better run than last season. However, other teams on the market will certainly pursue Dragic which will make events even more interesting!
