Tyrese Maxey is having himself a season as he has stepped up to the opportunity perfectly. Ben Simmons and the Sixers got into an ugly spat during the off-season, owing to which Simmons has refused to play this season. Maxey got the starting Point-guard role and has not disappointed with his performances.

Maxey is scoring 16.8 points per game to go with 4.7 assists per game. While he cannot match the defensive abilities and boost that Ben Simmons provided, he is scoring better than Simmons. Maxey may be quite shy from Simmons’ assists per game (career 7.7 assists per game) but he also turns the ball over less on average than Simmons used to.

Maxey is also shooting 36% from the three-point range and 46% from the field overall. While Simmons never used to shoot three, he was quick and big in size to be able to penetrate for dunks and layups. Simmons also used to do it very efficiently as he is 56% from the field in his career, which is elite for a point guard. Having said that, Ben Simmons’ abilities are of no use if he isn’t available to play. So, the 76ers’ next best option of Maxey turned out to be beyond expectations. Twitter fans were delighted to see Tyrese Maxey getting his well-deserved recognition with the Rising Stars game.
