Stephen A. Smith, Jeanie Buss and the Lakers' Big Three

Stephen A. Smith is the most straightforward and brutally honest analyst the television has seen and he has proved it many times as he isn’t afraid of anyone when he says what he wants to. Recently, he made it to the headlines as he took a shot at the Los Angeles Lakers’ front office while giving out his views on what the team needs from their new head coach. The Los Angeles Lakers recently fired their Head Coach Frank Vogel without dignity. As the front office failed to handle the process and the coach came to know about his tenure coming to an end by a reporters’ tweet. According to many, they have just scapegoated him for the mistakes the front office and owner Jeanie Buss made in the off-season by forming a veteran roster.

The season was a complete failure for the Los Angeles Lakers. As they didn’t even make it to the play-in tournament and the Phoenix Suns were the one to wipe them off. It’s a wrap for their journey this season with the dreams of making it big next season and returning with a better form and some new faces. The Lakers will have to go through some major changes if they want to turn around the narrative they have created for them. There’s a big list of changes to be made it includes front office members, players, management staff, and many others but it all surely starts with the Head Coach they’ll appoint. Recently, Stephen A. Smith helped the franchise by suggesting some names they should think about while appointing their next head coach.

Jay Williams and Kendrick Perkins started off with suggesting some names like Gregg Popovich and the reasons how can they prevent another season’s failure. Stephen A. Smith though decided to speak facts as adding in to the takes of the other two he quoted: “You know what you really, really, need? You really need a dude that will curse you the hell out! That will make the Rambises of the world scared to be in a meeting with you. You need to be the kind of coach that says, ‘Get the hell out, I don’t want you in here,’ to the point where Jeanie Buss is pulling them because she don’t want the drama. See, sometimes, you gotta create hell to generate peace. You gotta do it! You gotta be that person, you gotta be that dude.”

Further, Stephen A. Smith talking about the personality of the new head coach should have quoted: “Mark Jackson would do… No, I am only telling you the personality. I am talking about naa he wouldn’t cuss because he’s advanced and he’s more mature in his older age and Mark Jackson doesn’t do that anymore but he would send the message. I am talking about people with those kinds of personality I got the job keep me or let me go but what you’re not gonna do is micromanage me.” He also added names like Pat Riley, Phil Jackson, Gregg Popovich, and Larry Brown while giving examples for the coaches they should look for.

In his take, he also took a shot at the front office as he himself volunteered to clean it and quoted: “They don’t even have to hire me, Jay [Williams]. Just give me a month on the job, I’ll do it for free. I’ll clean that front office in 30 days. In 30 days!” Stephen A. Smith was very right with everything he said and mentioned as the Lakers really need to bring in a big player on the coaching staff who can turn around the things for the team or else they’ll just keep messing up with one of the greatest franchise in the league. His suggestion of making some changes in the front office is also very important since that’s where the downfall of the team started.
