This year’s season has brought us many surprises along with it. We have seen role players transform into elite ones, our idols break records and establish their name as all-time legends as well as teams rise from the ashes.
As the seaso
n reaches its halfway mark, teams and especially players are getting ready for the long-awaited All-Star game. All players and staff of the league are making efforts to get their fellow NBA friends up the voting lists. Celebrities around the globe have also joined the assembly of promoters speaking up for their favorite ballers.
The underdog of the Golden State Warriors
The Warriors have somehow lived up to all the hype they and their fan base had created. Stephen Curry is having a fairly great season averaging decent numbers enough to lead the Warriors up the league’s rankings. Draymond Green has been having a great defensive year while being a top-level mentor for the young guns on the roster.
Another Warrior who has had a great season for himself is none other than Andrew Wiggins. He was once viewed as a liability to the team but has emerged as one of their main pieces. Wiggins is a great to way player with the ability to score at high levels given the chance.
Wiggins has averaged 19.1 points with one steal, 1.9 assists and, 4.5 rebounds per game while averaging his best numbers in shooting with a career-high 48.9% from the field on 14.5 attempts and 42.5% from deep on 5.3 attempts.
He fits the role of a second scoring option behind Stephen Curry despite having averaged higher during his time with the Minnesota Timberwolves. In Minnesota, Wiggins was in a system had did not give him a specific role but it seemed as if he almost attended games and tried his best to put up numbers to win.
After being drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014 and being shifted to the Timberwolves in a trade that landed the Cavaliers Kevin Love. Wiggins joined the Warriors after sending Di’Angelo Russell as his replacement on the Timberwolves roster. Fans were skeptical of acquiring Wiggins but the player had worked his way past all odds.
