With this week’s action taking place, it seemed as if the entire sensationalism is around Iowa’s marquee Keegan Murray, who surely has caught the attention of Stephen A. Smith as well.

Safe to say, the improvement in his scoring prowess can be visualised by knowing that he only managed 7 points per game in his freshman year and has worked his way up to average 23.6 points per game. This has surely attracted the NBA scouts to look different at the 6’8 forward, whose consistency has been the key so far in the NCAA Tournament.

After being considered a potential late first-round selection at the start of the season, Murray has skyrocketed up draft boards and is now considered a potential top-five selection. On ESPN’s “First Take,” analyst Stephen A. Smith praised the Iowa sophomore. 

“He’s special. He’s special. I like him,” Smith said.

That being said, Keegan Murray has been the engine behind the Iowa Hawkeyes’ impressive season, and the team is clicking at the perfect time. They have won nine of their past 10 games, including four in a row to claim the Big Ten Tournament championship. Moreover, Murray’s traditional style of play as an old-day forward has been appreciated by many, to this point. 

Given that, Keegan Murray has a decent height, he has not only been a weapon for his team on the offensive end but has made some huge defensive plays, courtesy to his vertical defensive blocks. 

In the last seven games, Murray has averaged 24.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.9 blocks per game. During that stretch, Murray is also shooting 53.0%, including 53.7% from three-point range. Not until March that fanatics start to embrace the talent of a young player, Murray has been one of the most looked-for players. Will he find himself a seat in the NBA?
