LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges have proven to a star duo for Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets. Having to face a stern competition, the spoken off team was able to reach the postseason and would be up against the Atlanta Hawks in a loser-to-go-home contest. The 24-year-old has enjoyed his best season in 2021-22 and is on verge to extending his stay in Charlotte as per the latest reports.

According to Bleacher Reports’ Jake Fischer, Miles Bridges is on his way to sign a big pay-day with his current season. Bridges, whose team declined the Hornets’ four-year, $60 million extension offer, could make as much as $173 million over five years in a max salary.

“Bridges is clearly the present and future wing Charlotte wants to develop alongside Ball. After Bridges’ camp declined a four-year, $60 million contract offer last fall, sources confirmed, he is expected to command a maximum salary that could total five years, $173 million this summer. League personnel believe the Hornets will match any offer sheet for Bridges.

“That could either dissuade teams from making an earnest attempt at signing him, unnecessarily tying their hands for 48 hours. Or it may encourage a rival suitor to force Charlotte to pay his full max, as the Brooklyn Nets once did with Washington and Otto Porter.”

That being said, coming off of a season that saw him average 20.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.9 three-pointers made per game, it’s hard to argue that the Hornets forward wouldn’t be worth it. Furthermore, Miles Bridges’ best days are ahead of him. Also, with the Hornets building a solid foundation around their prime duo, they could surely be a force to reckon with in the coming seasons.

Lastly, with Atlanta Hawks waiting for them next, will we witness the Hornets contesting in the winner-it-take-it-all match against the Cleveland Cavaliers? Or is Trae Young bound to produce the same magic? Remains to be seen.
