Despite the hope of a city on his shoulders and the constant media spotlight, the Los Angeles Lakers star has defied every sort of obstacle in his career. He has been nothing short of legendary in his career and continues to write history.
What is more impressive about LeBron’s NBA career is the amount of time he has spent on the court, playing basketball. Not many players in NBA history have spent the amount time on the court as much as the King has. Looking at the stat sheet indicates nothing but greatness and longevity the Los Angeles Lakers star has displayed over the years.
While the 4 x NBA champion is fighting hard to win his 5th championship, looking back at the miles and minutes he has spent playing basketball is just beyond articulation for all of us. As of today, the 4 x MVP has spent 53,144 minutes of his life on the basketball court in the NBA. His minutes are only third to Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s 57,446 and Karl Malone’s 54,852 minutes. This is just his regular season minutes, excluding minutes he has played in the playoffs.
Over the 266 playoff games, LeBron has played 11,035 minutes, which is almost 2000 minutes more than the second spot, Tim Duncan. In his 20 years in the league, he has averaged 2657.2 minutes per regular season. He averages 38.1 minutes per game for 20 straight years. He has spent 41.5 minutes on the court in the playoffs. What is crazier, James is still playing at a high level and he is going to play at least 3 more seasons.

LeBron James has waged a war against the father time
James celebrated his 38th birthday in style as he scored 47 points against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday. At the age, when players sit at their home enjoying family time, James continues to play at an all-time great level. Even before the game tipped off, he told Dennis Schroder that he would score at least 40. He is that dominant in the game that requires young legs.
When asked about taking his decision on when he would want to end his career, James said that he would continue to play as long as his mind is in the game. “I don’t have a number,” he said. “I know as long as my mind stays in it, I can play at this level for a minute. Now, that’s up to my mind. My body is going to be OK because if my mind is into it.” He also added that he knows how to take care of his body and he will continue to do that. “I will make sure my body is taken care of, and I’ll continue to put in the work,” said LeBron.
